we are human
I tell myself this on a constant basis:
“Tosha, you’re good. What can you learn from this mistake? How can you repair this? How can you meet yourself where you are with love and grace? How can you help bring healing to this situation?”
It’s getting easier to embrace the human that I am, all of my flaws and believe in my goodness now, but if you were to ask me a couple of years ago if I could extend grace to myself, the answer would be a big fat “Nope!”
I can beat myself up. For days. I can dive deep into shame. But this woman is learning. Those days are few and far between. They happen less and less. There’s still a ways to go but there’s been progress.
We are human. We will hurt one another. We will mess it up. We will say the wrong thing. We will overstep boundaries. It does not mean that you are bad. That you are a horrible human being. It does not mean that you are toxic. And it doesn’t mean that you don’t love your people. It doesn’t not mean that you don’t care about others.
It simply means that you’re human. You’re capable of change. Of learning. Of redemption. Of healing. Of loving.
You’re good. xx
